Payments worth crores pending

JAMMU, Feb 12: A delegation of Hot Mix Plants Association called on Chief Engineer PW (R&B) Department Jammu here and submitted a memorandum with charter of demands.
During the meeting with the Chief Engineer, R&B Jammu, the delegation presented a detailed memorandum, and highlighted their issues. They pointed out that the work done liability worth crores for various completed works under the Scheme Pothole for the year 2023-24, is pending and has not been cleared despite several reminders.
Not only this, the work done liability under the Scheme City and Town, for the year 2023-24 has also remained un-cleared and moreover, the payments with regards to the new Schemes for the year 2024-25, City/ Town 2024-25; NABARD 2024 -25; CRF and others have remained un-cleared by the concerned R&B Divisions. The contractors are facing lot of problems due to non- clearance of their dues worth crores.
“As the above mentioned works stand completed long ago and assurances from govt have received many times, yet the payment for 2023-24 scheme which were kept for payment due to non- availability of funds at last moment during March 2023-24, are still to be paid to the contractors,” they added.
Even one year has passed, these payments are still pending. The file was forwarded by the Chief Engineer is just lying in Civil Secretariat and no one bothered to look into the difficulties of contractors.
The contractors have requested the Chief Engineer to look into the matter or the Contractors Associations will sit on strike for their rights at Nirman Bhawan Jammu.
