SRINAGAR, Feb 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that the National Conference (NC) Government lacks a roadmap to fulfill the promises made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference, BJP Chief Spokesperson Sunil Sethi stated that political parties must learn a lesson from the Delhi elections and refrain from engaging in the “politics of deceit.”
“During the Assembly elections in J&K, we presented a roadmap for fulfilling our promises. The NC also released its manifesto, yet not a single promise has been fulfilled. They have no roadmap, nor are they making any efforts,” he said.

Sethi pointed out that the NC had promised free electricity to the people but is now saying that it will only be provided after metering.
“If they were aware of this requirement, they should not have made such promises. People must remain vigilant and not fall for commitments that have no concrete plan for fulfillment,” he added.
When asked about the restoration of statehood for J&K, Sethi said that J&K is currently in a phase of “consolidation” following a “victory” over terrorism.
“Proper consolidation is necessary before statehood is restored. The process will take the required time, but there will be no unnecessary delay,” he asserted.
Sethi claimed that after the abrogation of Article 370, people had seen the “true face of politics.” However, he alleged that the “politics of deceit” continues.
“Political parties are now competing to make anti-national and pro-separatist statements. If the PDP makes one, the NC makes an even bigger one. Amid this rhetoric, the common people continue to suffer,” he said.
Referring to the ongoing process of formulating business rules for the Assembly, Sethi said that objections were raised over the deletion of references to the Constitution of J&K.
“But the Constitution of J&K no longer exists. Even when statehood is restored, it will run as per the Constitution of India,” he clarified.
Regarding the Kathua suicide incident following alleged police excesses, Sethi said: “We have taken up the matter with the authorities. A detailed inquiry will be conducted, and anyone found guilty will not be spared.”
