SRINAGAR, Jan 24: Authorities today imposed a ban on videography and photography within the premises of District Hospital Bandipora.
In a statement issued here, the hospital authorities stated that the move aims to safeguard patient privacy and ensure the smooth functioning of the healthcare facility.
They noted that the hospital has been witnessing instances where individuals record videos or take photographs, often leading to privacy violations and disruptions in patient care.
“Such practices have also caused inconvenience to medical staff and patients,” the statement added.
The hospital has urged the public to cooperate with security staff and adhere to the protocols while visiting the premises.
“We request everyone to respect patient privacy and follow hospital guidelines.”
The administration has warned that any violations of the new protocol may lead to strict action, including legal measures, to protect the sanctity of the hospital.
The authorities assured that “the ban will not hinder the legitimate grievances and issues from being addressed via proper channels.”
In a notice issued by the Medical Superintendent of DH Bandipora, it was stated that the prohibition of videography and photography is in accordance with Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The notice stated that no person shall capture, record, or transmit any videos or photographs within the premises of the hospital without prior authorization from the authorities.
It further stated that Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, 2000, specifically addresses the punishment for violation of privacy: “that any person who intentionally or knowingly captures, publishes, or transmits the image of a private area of a person without their consent, under circumstances violating their privacy,” is punishable with imprisonment of up to three years, a fine not exceeding two lakh rupees, or both.
