Police destroys seized drugs

Srinagar, Jan 18: Police in Anantnag today destroyed a large quantity of seized contraband substances in accordance with the NDPS Act.
According to authorities, the action was taken in compliance with court directions, under the supervision of a duly constituted committee.
The contraband substances destroyed were seized from Police Stations in Pahalgam, Aishmuqam Srigufwara, Mattan, Larnoo and Kokernag.
The items included 155.37 kg of Poppy Straw/Bhukki, 99.022 kg of Charas Powder/Bhang Bhoosa, 64 bottles of codeine phosphate, 889 bottles of liquor, and 140 tablets of Trimodal.
The committee overseeing the destruction included SSP Anantnag, DySP ANTF, DySP CI, DySP Headquarters Anantnag, and DySP DAR Anantnag.
“The process was carried out at Kashmir Health Care System, Lassipora, adhering strictly to legal protocols and environmental safety standards,” the police said.
