4 peddlers arrested in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 15: Srinagar Police today arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Authorities stated that a police team from Panthachowk Police Station apprehended two individuals during naka checking at Zafran Colony.
The individuals were identified as Furqan Majid Khan, also known as Kanda, son of Majid and a resident of Kanipora, and Sameer Hussain Dar, son of Gh. Mohammad Dar and a resident of Chattergam.
“During their search, a substantial quantity of narcotic substances was recovered from their possession,” police said.
Accordingly, an FIR (No. 02/2025) under sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Panthachowk Police Station, and both accused have been arrested.
Similarly, during naka checking at Zawoora Crossing, two chronic drug peddlers were arrested while travelling in an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK16B-3205.
The accused were identified as Suhaibji Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat and a resident of Ganderbal, and Ubaidullah Lone, son of Ifhtikhar Ahmad Lone and a resident of Hanji Danter, Anantnag, currently residing in Naz Colony, Panthachowk.
“During the search, a substantial quantity of contraband substances was recovered from their possession. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered,” police said.
Police further stated that Ubaidullah Lone is a chronic and known drug supplier in the area, targeting the younger generation and causing significant harm to society.
“As per the initial investigation and questioning, the drug supplier transports the contraband from outside the Union Territory to the local area, primarily targeting the youth,” police added.
