Srinagar, Jan 6: The dead bodies of five family members, including infants, reached their native village, Gingal, in North Kashmir’s Uri today.
A pall of gloom descended over the area when the bodies arrived at the village, with people bidding an emotional farewell to the five family members who met with a tragic end.
According to eyewitnesses, nearly the entire area turned out for the last rites, with people mourning and women wailing, beating their chests to express their grief.

The entire family was found dead last night in the Pandrethan area of Srinagar due to asphyxia, sending shockwaves across Kashmir.
“This is an unimaginable loss for the family and the community. Ajaz was a hardworking man trying to provide a better life for his children,” said a local.
The incident came to light last night when Ajaz’s sister, unable to reach him by phone, contacted the house owner, Mukhtar Ahmad, living nearby in Pandrathan.
“She called me, saying Ajaz had not responded since 4 pm. I sent another tenant to check on them,” house owner told reporters.
“When the tenant knocked and received no response, we forced the door open and found the entire family lifeless.”
It is worth noting that the incident occurred last night, with officials stating that the family was found unconscious at their rented accommodation in Pandrathan.
