NEW DELHI, May 19: Jeera prices climbed 1.59 per cent to Rs 11,165 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions amid pick-up in export demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May shot up by Rs 175, or 1.59 per cent, to Rs 11,165 per quintal with an open interest of 348 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June gained Rs 55, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 11,235 per quintal in 9,336 lots.
Analysts said the rise in jeera futures was due to positions built up by speculators on pick up in export demand in the spot market. (PTI)
