Army rescues 9 passengers

Srinagar, Apr  21: Army today claimed to have rescued nine passengers when their vehicle was struck by a torrential avalanche in Kupwara district.
A spokesman of the Army said that nine passengers, including women and children, traveling from Tangdhar to Kupwara were trapped under 10 feet of snow when vehicle they were traveling in was struck by a torrential avalanche.
“An Army Avalanche rescue team at the Nasta Chun Pass immediately swung into action and rescued these trapped passengers,” the spokesman said, adding this was the third rescue operation undertaken by the Army in the last six days.
