AKHNOOR, Apr 3: Intensifying election campaign in favour of Congress Party, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control and Chairman Election Campaign Committee, Sham Lal Sharma today addressed series of meetings and sought support for Madan Lal Sharma.
Asking the people to give another chance to sitting MP Madan Lal Sharma, the Minister said that UPA will form the next Government in the Centre and complete the unfinished projects launched by it. He said UPA is the only viable alternative for the people as the BJP and other parties have least experience to govern the nation as has been proved earlier. He said BJP and other regimes which served the country for brief stints did not help and pushed back the development scenario. These parties only remained engaged in leg pulling and settling scores with each other thereby staking the integrity of the nation, said the Minister.
Maintaining that Congress party has vast experience of serving the nation, the Minister said that since independence the party has produced numerous leadership and also offered many sacrifices for the nation. Its founders, including Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Maulana Abul Kalam, Smt. Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi laid strong foundation on secular values. These ethics were strengthened from time to time by the party and people have all along acknowledged the policies and programme of this secular party. The Congress is the party of poor people, down-trodden and deprived sections of the society and always fought for their rights, he added.
The Minister addressed meetings at village, Majoor, Ghaar, Bodh Chadyie, Kanedi, Bal Saro, Chowki Chowra, Chagyal, Gangal, Ambi Danna and Danna Jalada in Akhnoor Constituency.
