JAMMU, Mar 31: Senior Congress leader and Minister for Housing, Culture and Sports Raman Bhalla today said that Jammu and Kashmir State was on path of progress.
Since, the Coalition Government could restore peace, bring an order into the system of Governance, ensure accountability and implement all Central schemes ably, people were benefitted even in remotest areas of the State.
Besides rural development through Central schemes like PMGSY, NRHM, Rural Electrification, projects like Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) also changed the profiles of cities providing people world class amenities. This was for the first time in history that capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar were chosen for Sewerage Treatment Plants (STP) to maintain hygiene and give people a healthy living.
He was addressing party workers after inaugurating party offices at Karyani Talab, Malik Market and Rajeev Nagar besides holding public meetings at Gadigarh, Shastri Nagar and other areas of Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency. He also inaugurated a party office at Malik Market where party general secretary Choudhary Shah Mohammad was also present.
Raman Bhalla added that massive construction of bridges and flyovers besides initiation of projects like Tawi lake, river view front, ropeway connecting Bagh-e-Bahu to old city, development of park and gardens in almost every sector of posh residential areas, planning for setting up of new housing colonies, widening of roads and establishment of colleges and universities were all aimed at developing urban areas to meet peoples needs and growing demands.
It was because of liberal funding from the Centre that State could develop technical educational institutions and upgrade existing medical and dental colleges. Funds for new hospital buildings and super speciality hospital is the contribution of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) toward J&K States progress.
Seeking votes for party candidate Madan Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla said since Congress-National Conference (NC) carried forward Central projects ably, State witnessed such a massive development. He said that while the entire world was passing through economic crisis, it was India which showed a way to the world because of its strong and able economic policies.
