JAMMU, Mar 25: SKUAST Jammu organized an awareness programme is Sargul Naibasti Akhnoor to apprise orchardists about the management of orchard soils by integrating microbial inoculants in nutrient management in realm of site specific nutrient management under the project sponsored by HTMM, ICAR.
Orchardists from different localities of Akhnoor participated in the programme held in the orchard of Kuldeep Singh who has adopted Amla plantation. Functionaries who attended included Sham Lal a local Sarpanch and others.
Prof A K Bhat, Principal Investigator of the Project highlighted the importance of site specific nutrient management for sustainable fertility and productivity of orchard soils especially under upcoming Amla orchards in the area. He stressed on raising organic carbon levels which are depleting in the area. Pardeep Thusoo, Research Associate assisted the programme.
