SRINAGAR, Mar 18: Clashes broke out in parts of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district amid curfew like restrictions that continued for the fourth day today following death of a youth in alleged police firing last week.
Over a dozen persons were injured in protests and clashes in Hajin, Naidkhai and Check Sadrakote town of Bandipora district today.
Police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) fired tear smoke shells on protesters leading to ding dong battles in Hajin town since this morning. Police also fired from pellet guns on protesters in which three youth Ishfaq, Aijaz and Ishfaq were injured. Clashes continued throughout the day in the town during which around one dozen persons were injured.
Clashes also broke out in Check Sadrakote and Naidkhai during which police fired dozens of tear smoke shells to quell the protests.
A youth Farhat Ahmad Dar was killed in alleged police firing on Friday evening. Police says that protesters tried to set ablaze a police vehicle when security forces fired while residents said that the protests were peaceful.
The Government has ordered a magisterial probe into the killing of Farhat. However, the separatist organisations have rejected the probe and described it as another attempt to shield the guilty police personnel.
