SRINAGAR, Mar 17: An awareness camp on ‘Mediation’, organized by Mediation Monitoring Committee, (MMC) J&K High Court was held at District Court Complex, Mominabad Batamaloo.
Chairman, MMC & Judge J&K High Court Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir presided over the camp.
Members of Mediation Monitoring Committee, Justice, Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Tashi Wabstan, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Mohammad Shafi Khan, Judicial Officers, mediators and law students attended the camp.
Several speakers addressed the camp which include Jia Goyal of Mediation Centre, New Delhi and Sudhir Kumar Jain, Principal District & Sessions Judge, New Delhi and Trained Mediator and acquainted the audience about the importance of mediation.
Chairman Mediation Monitoring Committee and Judge J&K High Court Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir while addressing the Awareness Camp said that mediation is strong tool in the hands of parties to devise naturally acceptable and workable solution to the conflicts.
Referring to the objective of setting up of Mediation Monitoring Committee (MMC), Justice Mir said that MMC as such has been and will continue to promote the resolution of disputes by five Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods, more particularly Mediators Method is attempted to be made more and more effective and result oriented.
Lauding the role of Chief Justice J&K High Court M. M. Kumar for showing keen interest in promoting alternative dispute resolution, more particularly mediation, Justice Mir said that Justice Kumar has time and again emphasized its importance and has stressed for holding awareness programmes.
Justice Mir urged upon the judicial officers to reduce the number of pendency’s by mediation and make a litigant comfortable and peaceful. He asked the officers to work hard for winning the confidence of litigants who repose great faith in Judicial officers concerned and system.
However, Justice Mir appreciated the efforts of trained and efficient mediators for settling large number of cases through mediation.
