JAMMU, Mar 8: Dr. Karan Singh, President Indian Council for Cultural Relations arrived here today in Jammu. He was received by the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu Balwant Thakur along with the staff of ICCR.
Dr. Karan Singh is in town in connection with the celebrations of his 83rd birth day. In this connection Amar Mahal Musuem and Library is organising a Seminar ‘Dogra Centenary and beyond at the Darbar Hall of Amar Mahal Musuem in which speakers like  Rekha Choudhary, Lalit Gupta, Prof.Jigar Mohamad and Sandeep Singh will speak on the subject with introduction by Dr. Jyotsna Singh and closing remarks, by Dr. Karan Singh.
Earlier Dr. Karan Singh will inaugurate Maharaja Hari Singh Room at Amar Mahal followed by the opening of Basement Galleries with work of contemporary artists and sculptors, curated by by eminent artist of the State  Suman Gupta.
On the occasion Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu is also organising a unique ‘Sangeet Sandhya’ featuring three upcoming singers of the State which include Sargam Pant, Zulekha Fareed and Gursharan Kaur. The musical evening will feature diverse range of singing from Chota Khayal (Semi-Classical) to Sufi, Ghazal and folk traditions. The Sangeet Sandhya is being presented under the supervision of prominent singer and the music composer Sham Sajan Earlier to that Balwant Thakur, Regional Director ICCR, Jammu will give a brief introduction to the diversity of the traditions of music in Jammu.
