Pak prisoner’s body sent to Amritsar, to be handed over to Pak Govt

JAMMU : The body of a Pakistani prisoner, who allegedly committed suicide in District Jail Ambphalla here, was today sent to Amritsar for handing it over to the Pakistan Government.
“The body of Showkat Ali (42) was sent to Amritsar from Jammu after completing all legal formalities,” official sources said.
They said the body will be handed over to the Pakistani authorities via Wagah border adding that a team of Jammu and Kashmir Police has also been dispatched to complete all the formalities while handing over the body.
Ali, a resident of Pind Sial Jatta, tehsil Pasroor, Sialkot, Pakistan, was found hanging in the washroom of the jail with ‘gamcha’ (piece of cloth) on February 22.
He was lodged in the jail under Foreigners Act after being arrested by the police in Arnia Sector along the Indo-Pak Border in 2011. (AGENCIES)
