SRINAGAR, Jan 16: Director General Border Roads, Lt General AT Parnaik today said that Jawahar Tunnel on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway will be modernised soon.
The DG BRO today visited the project Beacon, including Jawahar Tunnel, on Jammu-Srinagar Highway to take stock of the security and safety aspects of the tunnel.
Parnaik held a meeting with officials of BRO and the Traffic Police was held at the tunnel.
Chief Engineer Project Beacon, Brig R K Sharma briefed the General with respect to the maintenance strategy being followed and further the advance technology required in the modernization of the tunnel.
Parnaik said that security, safety, surveillance and mobility gadgets of the tunnel are being installed to make it safer for the road users.
Lt General said and added that the number of jawans of the BRO, especially project Beacon working in these conditions needs expertise to handle the situation.
He expressed satisfaction over the performance of the project beacon in the critical and challenging circumstances.
