JAMMU, Jan 11: BJP activists held a protest demonstration against the State Government for harassing the people who had participated in 2008 land row agitation.
The protest was led by BJP-Jammu Poonch Parliamentary Constituency incharge, Yudhvir Sethi. The protestors accused the Government of not implementing the agreement reached with Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS) till date.
Mr Sethi said it is unfortunate that the Government was harassing the people of Jammu including saints and social activists who have taken part in peaceful agitation regarding restoration of Amarnath land in 2008.
He said over one dozen people from Jammu, Kathua, Hiranagar and Samba laid down their lives during the agitation while many were injured.
He said it is a shame that instead of implementing the agreement the Government was booking the people on false charges. He said Mahant Rameshwar Dass Ji has been implicated in attempt to murder case which indicates that a conspiracy has been hatched to harass, torture and insult even the religious heads of a particular community and divide the people on communal lines.
He said the Government at the time of agreement had agreed to withdraw all the cases but now after lapse of five years they are implicating the people on false charges which will be strongly resisted.
Anil Masoom Ramji Aggarwal, Arun Sethi, Pardeep Langeh, Rajinder Kumar, Rajesh Dogra and others participated in the protest.
