SRINAGAR, Jan 5: Thousands of devotees thronged to the Shrine of Khawaja Naqashband Saheb on his 350th death anniversary and offered congregational prayers called “Khoja Digar” in old city area here.
Despite biting cold, men, women and children were seen visiting the shrine to pay their obeisance since morning and were offering special prayers. Hundreds offered prayers outside the shrine on the main road as devotees were jostling for space.
Religious scholars on the occasion threw light on the life and the teachings of Khawaja Bahaudin, who was the founder of Naqashbandi school of thought, which is considered one of the thoughts of Sufism schools.
The day is celebrated every year on the 3rd of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar.
