BARAMULLA, Feb 12: Former Minister and Senior Vice-President of J&K People’s Conference (PC), Abdul Gani Vakil today stated that the problem of unemployment is forcing the youth in Jammu and Kashmir to resort to drugs.
In a statement, Vakil said: “The youth of J&K are being pushed to the wall and it is a matter of grave concern that they’re taking drugs out of frustration about their career due to the rising unemployment in the UT”.
The PC leader was addressing party workers’ meetings at Zalura, Waripora, and Tragpora in Rafiabad and Naseerabad in Sopore.
Vakil said while the Government is not making the fresh recruitments those engaged earlier by the previous dispensations are also on the roads seeking regularisation and release of the pending wages.
“Instead of addressing their issues, the Government is lathicharging the agitating employees. This is sad!” he said
The former Minister urged the UT administration to come up with a concrete job policy for the unemployed youth.
