JAMMU, Aug 25: The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena (DF&SS) here today under the leadership of their president, Ashok Gupta took out a protest rally demanding digitalisation of revenue records so that common man can be saved from the loot.
Addressing the protesters Ashok Gupta said that Revenue Department takes care of land records and it is one of the most important and oldest departments in J&K.
“Despite detailed description of land there is alarming number of land related disputes in J&K which affects development because in various cases names of landowners are mentioned either incorrectly or with incomplete detail,” he claimed adding that there are also unregistered sales/purchases, wrong and illegal possessions over which the occupant has no proprietary rights as it belongs to Government or a community or some other person.
Gupta said that digitisation of land records is latest step taken under the Digital India Land Record Modernisation Programme to digitise and modernise land records and develop a centralized land record management system.
He further said that digitisation will save common man from corruption and cheating.
