POONCH, Aug 25: Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Poonch today challaned 17 vehicles in Poonch and Mandi area today.
Official sources said that 14 out of 17 vehicles were challaned in Poonch area while rest of the vehicles were challaned in Tehsil Mandi for over-charging from passengers and other violations.
ARTO, Poonch, Basharat Mehmood said that he received complaints regarding the overcharging of fare on different routes in Poonch from the passengers by private transport operator. Keeping in view, nakas are being established to check the menace and take action against the violators.
“We have circulated passenger fare lists of all the routes in Poonch district and action as per Motor Vehicle Act shall be taken if any vehicle operator found overcharging from the passengers,” he added.
