ICCR Jammu organizes colourful programme ‘Guldasta’

JAMMU, Sept 10:   Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Jammu, organised a colourful  programme ‘Guldasta’- featuring the diversity of the dances of the State at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu (JU) under its Horizon Series.
The programme was supported by Directorate of Tourism, State Government and was presented in the International Conference on ‘Triggering Discoveries in High Energy Physics’ organised by Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu.
Regional Director, ICCR, Jammu, Balwant Thakur, described this as an opportune moment for the Indian Council for Cultural Relations to showcase the cultural diversity of the J&K before the International audiences and thanked the University of Jammu for choosing ICCR to do so.  A short film featuring the activities of ICCR with its introduction by Dr Karan Singh, president, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, was also screened on the occasion.
The screening of the film was followed by a mesmerizing non-stop back to back programme which kept the audience spellbound. The programme beautifully assimilated the cultural shades of the State through its varied rhythms. Ranging from Kashmiri, Dogri, Ladakhi and Pahari to Gojri, the programme transported audiences to the cultural journey of the entire State in just forty minutes.
A filmi number representing Kashmir in cinema was also included in the programme. The programme culminated into the presentation of unity in diversity of J&K, the harmony and the cultural co-existence of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This mega grand finale item was conceptualized and devised by Balwant Thakur.
The artists who participated in this compact programme included Aarti Verma, Damanpreet Kaur, Suhasini Anthal, Srijna Bhasin, Shiveta Raina, Chandani Khatri, Shaina Sharma, Balwinder Kaur, Arpana Devi, Rasmeet Kaur, Indu Sharma, Radhika Mehra, Mahi Sharma, Vishakha Shovatra, Mehak Wadera, Pallavi Sodhi, Priti Manhas, Tamana, Ikesh Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Vikram Singh, Neetan Mehra, Ashwani Kumar, Vinay Sultan and Bunty.
