SRINAGAR, Sept 10: While asking the officers to ensure the timely completion of various beautification and developmental projects undertaken in the old city Srinagar, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati, Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that the same is necessary for ensuring sustained development and bringing the city on the tourist map. The Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting convened to discuss the status of implementations of various projects undertaken for the beautification of Srinagar city. Director Tourism Kashmir, Talat Parvez, MD, J&K Cable Car Corporation, Tufail Matoo, Secretary Waqaf Board, DFO, Urban, Syed Abid and other senior officers were present in the meeting. Sagar directed the Managing Director, JK Cable Car Corporation to ensure that the work on the Craft Centre and other related things of the Maqdoom Sahib Rope Way Project is completed as soon as possible, so that the same can be inaugurated and thrown open to the public. The Minister also directed the officers to speed up the pace of work on the proposed eco- park being developed on the foothills of the Hari Parbat Fort and the other related projects so that the area comes up as a tourist spot for the people living in old city Srinagar and its catchment areas. Sagar also asked the officers to ensure the timely completion of various other projects undertaken for the beautification of the old city Srinagar on heritage pattern so that the whole area comes up on the tourist map which would go a long way in boosting the economic and other related activities in the area.
