20 kg `bukki’ seized from van

RAJOURI, Sept 2: The police chased a Maruti van and recovered 20 kg poppy straw (bukki) in Budhal area of  district Rajouri late this evening.
A police spokesman said that Kotranka police party during naka intercepted   a Maruti van No. DID/8788 which was moving towards Budhal from Rajouri. The driver did not stop and broke the naka and sped away. The police party led by SHO Haji Bashir chased the van and later managed to intercept near Badar village after hot chase of 3 kms. The driver jumped away from the van and managed to escape taking cover of darkness and maize crop. During search three boxes containing eggs and bread were searched and the consignment had been concealed under them. The accused was later identified as Abdul Razak, son of Sakhi Mohd of Daraj village in Budhal. He had brought this consignment from Kashmir Valley and came via Mughal road this evening. The police was looking for him.
