Manmohan demands subsidy for J&K power consumers

JAMMU, Mar 26: President of All India Jat Maha Sabha J&K, Ch. Manmohan Singh claimed that people of J&K are paying heavy power bills ranging from thousands to lakhs of rupees.
“J&K has many power projects and as per the recent statement of the LG, the Union Territory is heading towards becoming power surplus. So the people here deserve some relief in form of subsidy in power bills on the pattern of Punjab and Delhi,” he said appealing to the government to introduce amnesty scheme for domestic electricity consumers of J&K.
In a handout Singh said that people of all sections of the society having been economically hit due to Corona pandemic, so the government should show compassion and provide special succour particularly to the financially distressed poor and marginalized sections of the society. He also demanded electricity subsidy in agriculture sector so that farmers may heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, the Maha Sabha president reiterated his demand of OBC status to the Jats of J&K.
“BJP had claimed that after abrogation of Article 370, people of J&K would get equal rights at par with people of other parts of the country but Jats are not getting their due right of OBC status like they enjoy in 11 other States of the country,” he maintained.
