Srinagar, Feb 11: Police in Sopore today said to have arrested four gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.
Following an input about gambling activities in orchards at Sangrama, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Sopore raided the gambling site and arrested four gamblers, police said.
“They have been identified as Mohd Ramzan Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohd Bhat, resident of Arampora, Sopore; Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Subhan Bhat, resident of Chinkipora Sopore; Feroz Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohd Maqbool Ganie, resident of Hathishah Ningli and Nasrat Rasool Sofi, son of Ghulam Rasool Sofi, resident of Panjipora,” police said.
Police said that the team seized stake money of Rs 1,03,000 and playing cards from the gamblers. “They have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 13/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and further investigation has been initiated.
