SRINAGAR, Aug 11: Truck Union Handwara today organised a function at Handwara Bus Adda, in which Minister for Transport and CA&PD, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan was chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister asked the Truck Union members to furnish their charter of demands in black and white to Government so that necessary action can be taken accordingly to redress their grievances.
On the occasion, the Minister assured the people of Handwara that all those promises committed by the present Government would be fulfilled on priority.
Listing the on-going developmental works being executed under various sectors in Handwara area, Ch. Ramzan said that work on Rs 35 crore Handwara town Water Supply Scheme is presently going on in full swing for which an additional amount of Rs. 4 crore has also been released for its early completion. He said that work on more 32 Water Supply Schemes are also going-on in the area.
The Minister further said that 28 Bunds, by utilizing Rs. 22 crore, are being constructed in the area with the main aim for providing irrigation facilities to Handwara tehsil.
Ch. Ramzan said that 8 kms of road length is also being constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crores in Handwara tehsil. He said a comprehensive programme has also been formulated for covering all roads of Handwara tehsil under mecadamization programme during the current financial year.
The Minister said, besides construction of a big stadium between Kupwara and Handwara by involving Rs. 8 crore, one more stadium is also being constructed at Handwara for providing sports facilities to the local youth of the area, for which an amount of Rs. 4 crore has already been released. He also allotted four kanals of land to SRTC at local Bus Adda.
