JAMMU, Aug 7: BJP Jammu Poonch Parliamentary constituency Incharge Yudhvir Sethi today alleged that an attempt is made to demolish the memorials, parks and other historical symbols named after Maharaja Hari Singh.
While addressing a press conference here alongwith general secretary of Tourists Association Jammu and general secretary Sundar Singh Gurdwara Road Association Bharat Bhushan Kotwal. Pardeep Lange, Anil Masoom Vice President Shri Sanatam Dharam Natak Samaj Dewan Mandir, Jammu he said that Government agencies were involved in this game plan.
Yudhvir Sethi said that few years back a piece of land was earmarked for a park to be built in memory of Maharaja Hari Singh on the Bank of River Tawi on Jogi Gate cremation road. This land was originally Shishu Samadhi and was taken into hand by Jammu Development Authority (JDA) on the pretext that it will be developed as a beautiful park in the name of late Maharaja. It was transferred to municipality for the purpose of constructing park. Later, the JDA got the same land transferred back for Municipality and a piece of land out of it measuring eight kanals was sold out in crores on the excuse that Rs 8 crore is needed for the people.
Yudhvir Sethi said that there is no logic in selling out the land. The fact is that it has been sold out to give benefit to some blue eyed boys by the Government agencies.
Sethi also lambasted the JDA for making 30-40 percent hike in parking sites white lending out to private constructors. He said that in the past, JDA used to make hike by 10 percent after 2-3 years but now it is making manifold increase which is against the constitution. He said that all the tender procedure should be thoroughly inquired as general public is not availing the parking facilities due to heavy charges. Moreover, the JDA has least concern over maintenance of JDA parking sites and there is no proper system of lights as well as cleanliness. It seems that JDA is only busy in making money, he added.
He warned the JDA not to indulge in any such act which is against the honour of Dogra Maharajas otherwise the people of Jammu will come on roads.
