JAMMU, Dec 25: The Alumni Meet of MIER College of Education was organised to celebrate four decades of excellence in the field of teacher education.
The event was attended by over 150 Alumni who had registered for the event. The theme of the Alumni Meet was “Reconnect, Revive and Rejoice”.
The event commenced with paying of tributes to Dr Arun K Gupta, former Chairperson of MIER Group of Institution, an eminent educationist and an ardent visionary who immensely contributed to the field of education while making a difference to the society at large.
Prof Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College of Education, in the welcome address, said that alumni are ambassadors and collectively can take the institution to greater heights.
On the occasion, twelve prominent alumni were presented with the ‘Distinguished Alumni Awards’. These included Dr Rajesh Bhardwaj, Managing Director, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Group of Institutions, Punjab; Prof J N Baliya, Head , Department of Educational Studies, Central University, Jammu; Dr Suman Charak, Associate Professor, HoD, English Dept, Padam Shri Padma Sachdev Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar; Dr Vikram Gulati, Principal, Shivalik College of Education, Udhampur; Prof Kuldeep Singh Katoch, Department of Education (ICDEOL), HP University, Shimla; Lt Col Devender Anand, Public Relations Unit, Ministry of Defence, Jammu; Prof Ajay Kumar Attri, Department of Education, HP University, Shimla; Raj Pawan, Principal, Aatmsukh Aatamdev Aashram for Mentally Challenged, Hoshiarpur, Punjab; Vinod Kalra, Assistant Professor, Lady Irwin College, New Delhi; Anmol Gupta, Director, UIV Financial Distribution Pvt Ltd; Amarjot, Managing Director, Infobug (Infotainment Channel) and Dr Renu Gupta, Chairperson, MIER Group of Institutions.
The awardees also released the College Newsletter-Prerna and launched the Alumni Association of the college.
Later, captivating interactions with the alumni were carried out by the master of ceremonies. The event had power packed musical performances from Mr Ricky & his band. There were enthralling spot performances by alumni which filled the environment with excitement and cheer. The alumni meet gave an opportunity for all the old students to get together and relive the old times and share their memories. Gifts were given to alumni to acknowledge the oldest alumni or alumni who came for the event from the farthest place.
The programme was compered by Manju Vali, Incharge of the Co-curricular Committee, Model Academy.
