Two bovine smuggling bids foiled, 3 smugglers held

SAMBA, Nov 22: Police successfully foiled today two bovine smuggling bids by arresting three smugglers and rescuing eight bovines in two separate incidents.
“Acting on reliable information, a police party of police station Ghagwal while performing routine vehicle checking duty in Ghagwal area, signalled to stop a Mahindra Pickup vehicle having Registration Number JK02CS-7066 which was coming from Border road Rajpura to Ghagwal,” a police official said.
He said during checking of the vehicle, four cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission, following which the accused driver namely Sunil Kumar son of Krishan Lal of Deoli (Bishnah) and his associate Anil Choudhary son of Tarsem Singh of Nekowal (Suchetgarh) were arrested on the spot.
“All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot,” the official said, adding, a case FIR Number 199/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act was registered in this regard at police station Ghagwal and investigation started.
Meanwhile, in a similar case, a police party of police station Ghagwal arrested a bovine smuggler namely Harpreet Singh son of Satnam Singh of Bhopalpur (Pathankot) and rescued four more bovines which were being transported in a Mahindra Bolero with registration number JK02CQ-8806.
“All the bovines were rescued and the vehicle used for transportation of bovines was also seized on the spot,” the official said. He said that a case FIR number 200/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act was registered in this connection at police station Ghagwal and investigation started.
