JAMMU, Oct 16: A CME on Dengue Fever was organized by various departments of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today.
Speakers from different departments addressed the audience on various aspects of Dengue Fever.
Dr. Shashi Sudan Sharma, Principal GMC Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion.
She said that Dengue is a mosquito-transmitted virus and the leading cause of arthropod-borne viral disease. “Prevention is better than cure”, she said adding: “We can save ourselves by using insect repellent, wearing appropriate clothing and by controlling mosquitoes inside and outside our homes and workplaces.”
Dr. Akriti, PG Resident from Department of Medicine gave a detailed presentation on ‘Clinical Profile and Management of Dengue’ and talked about signs-symptoms and phases of the Dengue Fever, high risk group, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Dengue Shock Syndrome, home care and Dengue complications.
Dr. Nazia Asgar from Department of Microbiology talked about the lab diagnosis of Dengue while Dr. Shamim Malik from Department of Pathology gave a presentation on the Role of Pathogenesis and various Pathological tests regarding Dengue fever.
Dr. Preeti Sharma, senior resident from the Department of Pediatrics talked about the Dengue fever in Pediatrics age group while Dr. Anshu Mahajan from Department of Blood Transfusion deliberated upon various aspects of platelets and blood transfusion for Dengue patients.
Dr. Vijay Kundal, HoD Medicine; Dr. Ghanshyam Saini, HoD Pediatrics; Dr. Meena Sidhu, HoD Blood Transfusion; Dr. Rajiv Gupta, HoD Community Medicine, consultants and residents from various departments were also present on the occasion.
