UDHAMPUR, Aug 12: An elderly man died after he consumed some poisonous substance under mysterious circumstances at his residence in village Surani in Ramnagar.
According to the police report, Suram Chand (68), son of Bhagat Ram, resident of village Surani in Ramnagar, consumed some poisonous substance under mysterious circumstances at his home.
Family members took him to District Hospital Udhampur and doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu where he died during the treatment. It was an apparent case of suicide but cause of provocation behind the extreme step could not be ascertained.
Later, the dead body was sent for postmortem and after completion of all the legal formalities, it was handed over to the family members for last rites. Ramnagar Police has registered the case and started further investigations.
