Bhalla directs officers to clear, bottle-necks for Jablipora Mandi

SRINAGAR, June 27: Minister for Housing, Culture and Horticulture, Raman Bhalla today visited Anantnag and inspected the Ashajipora fruit and vegetable mandi and took detailed appraisal of the facilities available there.
The Minister interacted with the fruit growers and traders and enquired about their problems. He said Government was committed to address the problems of the fruit growers as horticulture is the mainstay of State’s economy and south Kashmir is hub of horticulture activities. He said Government has already taken several revolutionary steps to strengthen the infrastructure in all mandis for smooth business activities.
The local traders while welcoming the Minister in the mandi, demanded upgradation of basic facilities like Blacktopping, Sanitation, improving lanes and drains, facilities of public utilities and regular water, electricity supply. They also apprised the Minister about some illegal occupants of Government shops, who are not associated with the fruit trade and demanded their eviction.
He issued instructions to the Director Horticulture (Planning & Marketing), Mr. Showkat Zargar to take all necessary measures to mitigate the problems of the traders.
Later, the Minister also visited the proposed site of Jablipora Fruit Mandi and discussed the issue of land acquisition with the locals. He asked the locals to sort out the issue with the administration, so that work on this prestigious terminal Mandi is initiated. He also directed the officers to clear all the bottlenecks coming in the way of setting up the mandi for which all the formalities already stand completed.
