JAMMU, June 26: Police today rescued 13 bovine animals and arrested three smugglers from Nagrota and Bishnah areas of the winter capital.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Nagrota police station led by SHO OP Chib laid a naka under the supervision of SDPO Khalik Choudhary and intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK19-1903.
During checking, police recovered four bovine animals and arrested the smuggler, who has been identified as Bashir Ahmed, son of Gulab Din of Maitra Ramban.
A case under FIR number 191/13 under Section 188 RPC has been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Bishnah police on specific information laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AE-8411.
During checking, police rescued nine bovine animals and arrested two smugglers, who have been identified as Mohinder Singh, son of Kartar Singh and Lakhbir Singh, son of Kulwant Singh, both residents of Gondala RS Pura, he added.
Their two accompliance identified as Abu, son of Jarnail Singh and Kala, both residents of RS Pura managed to escape, he said.
A case under FIR number 79/13 under Section 279/188 RPC, 3 PCA Act stands registered at Bishnah police station and manhunt has been launched to arrest the absconding accused.
