Convert G B Pant Hospital into Veterans Hospital: SSP

JAMMU, May 16: Col. SS Pathania, president Sainik Samaj Party (SSP),JKUT urged Lt Governor and Union Government to convert GB Pant, Cantonment Board Hospital ,Satwari to Veterans Hospital.
In a statement issued here, today Pathania said a great nation always values, appreciates and acknowledges the sacrifices made by the veterans in protecting the security and sovereignty of the nation, and constantly working on their welfare and well being as a token of gratitude and respect. Jammu district has always on the forefront of joining the Armed Forces, and has approximately 2.5 lakh retired personnel, widows and dependents. Polyclinic Jammu, looking after the medical facilities is oversubscribed, and dependency needs to be reduced, with a view of better medical management, he added.
He said an asset like GB Pant Hospital presently is in deplorable condition in terms of infrastructure, staff, facilities of treatment, resources and funds. Station Commander ,Jammu plays a vital role in running of Cantonment Board Hospital, but over a period of time tremendous deterioration has set in, which must be addressed urgently. Conversion to Veterans’ Hospital not only will provide a great relief to the veterans, widows and dependants but also to the civilians working under Cantonment Board, he said. In addition veterans of neighboring districts, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur too can be greatly benefited by veteran’s hospital, there by reducing the pressure on Polyclinic Jammu and Military Hospital, he added.
He said this will be a pilot project of its kind in lndia and will also enhance the image of Union Government, as a caring Government, which appreciated and valued the contribution of soldiers and veterans, towards security and sovereignty of our nation.
