SMC launches anti-encroachment drive in city areas

Srinagar, Apr 21: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today carried out anti encroachments drive in the various areas of Srinagar City.
The anti-encroachment Squad was led by the Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan and visited various areas including Regal Chowk, Jehangir Chowk, Maharaja Bazaar, Dalgate and adjoining areas.
On the occasion, Commissioner, SMC said that the Corporation has reorganized its anti-encroachment squad to ensure effective, strategized and sustainable enforcement on the ground to remove encroachments for smooth flow of traffic and pedestrian movement in the city said Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan.
The drive was carried out under the overall supervision of the Commissioner SMC who was also accompanied by Joint Commissioner Administration, Joint Commissioner Works, Chief Sanitation Officer, Chief Anti Encroachment Officer and other concerned officials of the Corporation.
The officials said that during the drive action was taken against encroachments along mains roads and the markets which usually create hurdles in the smooth movement of the public as well as the transport.
They said that the goods led to the encroachment and were displayed by street vendors and shopkeepers outside shops were removed and seized on the spot with the recovery of a fine against the violators.
