JAMMU, Mar 21: The 13th martyrdom day of Shaurya Chakra recipient, Shaheed Havaldar Rakesh Sharma was observed at his ancestral village Durui in Samba.
Family members of the martyred Havaldar and residents of adjoining villages along with Panches and Sarpanches of the village paid tributes to the martyr.
DC Samba, Anuradha Gupta; SSP Samba, Rajesh Sharma; former MLA, Dr Davinder K. Manyal and others were also present on this occasion.
In her address, DC Samba said: “We must respect our martyrs and today if we and our country are safe, it is due of these brave soldiers and those who sacrificed their lives defending their motherland.
She also said that administration is also standing shoulder to shoulder with martyrs’ family and if they have any problem, the administration is ready to help them in all possible ways.
Havaldar Sharma was martyred on March 21, 2009 in Kashmir while fighting terrorists.
