JAMMU, Jan 3: In a meeting executive committee of J&K Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) here today unanimously nominated Mohd Yusuf Taing (former Director General Culture, J&K) as patron of JKCCA.
The meeting was chaired by Pt. Kewal K. Sharma, JKCCA President and attended by all the members of JKCCA executive body.
Taing is the recipient of Padamshree, J&K Government State Award and has been awarded Best Book Award by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages.
He has worked as Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages for more than two decades, remained member of J&K Public Service Commission, Chief Editor of State Gazetteers, Director Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Director J&K Information Department and at many other high profile portfolios.
He also remained MLC twice and Deputy Chairman, J&K Legislative Council.
Taing has in-depth insight in literary and cultural matters and has authored more than two dozen books in different languages.
He guided and remained instrumental in execution of policies and programmes of the organization.
The literary and cultural circles have welcomed the decision of JKCCA to nominate Taing as JKCCA patron.
