MENDHAR, May 9: The Army averted a possible tragedy after it defused a live shell in a forward area of Krishna Ghati area in Mendhar area of district Poonch today.
Sources said a villager noticed a mortar shell lying in a nallah and informed nearby Army unit. The Army men then rushed to the area and defused the shell which was found to be live one. The Army officer of the unit also initiated an inquiry into the matter. A tragedy was averted with the prompt action of troops.
