JAMMU, May 9: Jammu is being deprived of not only their due in developmental activities and other spheres of life but also attempts are being designed to harm the interests of the people by certain elements operating from within and outside the Government.
This was alleged by the former Union Minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta. He was responding to the complaints of the leaders of various associations of the traders and workers here today.
Prof Gupta contacted certain high ups to know about the facts and regretted the style of functioning of the Coalition Government of the State was detrimental to the interest of the people.
He said that instead of taking realistic steps to remove the congestion in the city, some strange measures are being adopted in this connection.
Prof Gupta particularly referred to the need of constructing flyovers in the much needed areas of Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo, B.C road to Amphalla to Janipur and pointed out that projects have been put under the carpet and flyover is being taken up for execution from Bikram Chowk to Presentation Convent etc.
He also referred to the many other problems facing to the people of Jammu and pointed out that by spending large sums the traffic signal lights have been raised which do not work at most of the crossings and proving just white elephants. He also pointed out that crores have spent for introducing sewerage system in the city but there are little signs of their completion even after expiry of years. Moreover, the conditions of roads and lanes have been badly affected due to haphazard manner the works are being executed.
He also assailed the Government for not holding the Civic Elections despite repeated assurances and announcements.
