JAMMU, May 9: National Secular Forum has appealed the Governor N N Vohra to hold an inquiry against some departments in University of Jammu, which were allegedly spending lavishly on expensive furniture and other infrastructure for senior Professors.
Talking to the media persons here, NSF vice-president Sukhdev Singh alleged that the JU has miserably failed to provide basic amenities to the students whereas Heads of various departments and even some senior Professors were busy purchasing expensive infrastructure for their personal use.
“Some departments including Economics, Hindi, Law and The Business School etc have purchased the LCD, chairs and tables worth lakhs of rupees while the students have been denied basic amenities,” he said and sought the Governor’s intervention so that wasteful expenditure could be avoided.
The NSF leader also hoped that Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohan Paul Singh who had withdrawn the official vehicles from senior officers and professors, would take an appropriate action in this regard.
Among those who were present in the press-conference included, Narinder Singh, Qayoom Malik, Balveer Kumar, Vikram Madhyal and Pushpinder Singh.
