BJP demands renovation of temples across Kashmir valley

Srinagar, Dec 16: Bharatiya Janata Party today demanded an immediate renovation of all the temples in Kashmir to keep the culture of Jammu and Kashmir alive, while also seeking action against the encroachers of such places.
General Secretary and Kashmir affairs In-charge, Vibodh Gupta has urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take necessary steps in this regard.
He visited Shuryar Shiv temple today and also performed puja with locals in at a temple at Indira Nagar where the Kashmiri Pandit community informed him that the way leading to the temple has been encroached.
The BJP leader also contacted the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, who rushed to the spot along with the team of officials. The DC, as per BJP, later directed the concerned officials to investigate the matter.
“Kashmiriyat is famous across the globe and J&K is heading towards Kashmiriyat again. A committee must be formed to identify the temples which need to be renovated to keep the Kashmir culture alive; after the abrogation of Article 370 things changed to normalcy,” he said.
Gupta, who was accompanied by BJYM General Secretary Bilal Parray and Kashmiri Pandit leader Veena Pandita later appealed the Lieutenant Governor to constitute a committee to identify the temples that require renovation.
Meanwhile, BJP national spokesman and former Union Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain paid obeisance at the revered shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Hamza(RA) popularly known as Makhdoom Sahab in downtown Srinagar.
Hussain at the occasion prayed for the peace, tranquillity and the progress of Kashmir and wellbeing of people of the Valley. He said that he felt peace and solace at the revered shrine.
