JAMMU, May 6: Senior youth Congress leaders under the leadership of Sidharth Mahajan and Rakesh Pant met All India Congress Committee (AICC) Vice President Rahul Gandhi and apprised him about the problems being faced by the self-employed youth of the ETT Colleges.
During the meeting, the leaders apprised Rahul Gandhi that J&K is not having employment avenues and some of the educated youths have self-employed themselves as well as employed others also in the era of employment.
About 20,000 person and their families engaged in ETT profession are earning their meals out of this noble profession without demanding any financial assistant from the State or the Central Government and simultaneously promoting the educational tourism in the State, they added.
Sidharth Mahajan and Rakesh Pant requested Rahul Gandhi that in view of the plight of the aggrieved stake holders of ETT colleges, employees their dependents and 27,000 students in particular, to take up the matter with the concerned authorities of the J&K with a strong recommendation to resolve the matter.
They stressed for giving special attention to the youth of J&K and appealed Rahul Gandhi to formulate some more policies besides existing ones for the employment and betterment of the youth of this sensitive State.
Rahul Gandhi gave patient hearing to the issues highlighted by the youth Congress leaders and assured to take up the cognizance of the matter. He also promised to redress the issue immediately.
Members of Joint Action Committee of Self Employed Youth of ETT Colleges namely Rakesh Gupta, Bhanu Partap Singh, Pitamber Singh, Maneesh Goswami, Anil Pandita, Kauser Usmani Malik, Kanav, beides others were also present.
