Bhalla lays foundation stone of Green Belt at Narwal Mandi

JAMMU, May 4: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla today laid the foundation stone of Green Belt Park at Fruit and Vegetable Market Narwal.
The project involving a cost of Rs 52.75 lakh  include civil works like construction of walkway, fencing, grill benches and illumination estimated to cost Rs 35.63 lakh, besides state -of  art-  Water Sprinkler System at a cost of Rs 13 lakh  and Rs 3.94 lakh for  water supply.
To be developed by the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), the proposed Green Belt would be created by landscaping, plantation and laying of flower beds.
Addressing the gathering after laying foundation stone, the Minister hailed the Minister for Urban Development Nawang Rigzin Jora for sanctioning the park project which was long pending demand of the traders and farmers.
Responding to the demands, the Minister assured that the work on construction of tubewell and blacktopping of the interior roads of the market would be taken up soon. He said that the construction of sheds to facilitate the fruit growers in Narwal Mandi would also be started at the earliest.
Vice Chairman Jammu Development Authority Satish Nehru, President Fruit Association Rajesh Gupta, President Vegetable Association Ramesh Parihar, Sr. Vice President, Chamber of Commerce Sham Langer, Deputy Director Horticulture Marketing J. P. Singh were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Minister kick started the development works in Sanjay Nagar which included blacktopping of interior roads in Sector -4,   and also up-gradation of lanes and drains.
The Minister also listened to the grievances and demands of the people of the areas and assured them that all their genuine demands would be redress within stipulated time frame.
