SRINAGAR, May 3: The new block building of Civil Secretariat, Srinagar coming at a cost of Rs 28.5 crore is being completed in a record time and will be ready by August this year, Director Estates, Mohammad Hussain Malik said here.
Mailk said that the two floors of the building are ready and will be inaugurated on Monday by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah when move offices open here. The Departments of Information Technology and Industries are being shifted to the new block.
Malik said that the Estates Department has developed a new concept of providing offices to the entire ministry in one designated area. He said that Information Technology and Industries ministries and their departments will be in these two floors for the smooth functioning of these departments and ministries.
He said that after the completion of the other floors of the building more departments will be shifted to the new block. “By next year all departments in Civil Secretariat Srinagar will have separate designated places for smooth functioning of various departments and ministries”, he added.
Malik said that the work on multi-storied new block was started in January 2013 and two floors have been completed in 14 months while rest of the floors will be ready by August.
He said that all the arrangements in the Civil Secretariat have been put in place for its re-opening on Monday.
The Estates Department has hired 45 Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) huts and 118 city-based hotels with a capacity of 31, 00 rooms to accommodate the Durbar Move employees.
Malik said bureaucrats and other higher-ups would be accommodated at JKTDC huts while other employees were being accommodated in hotels after the security clearance. Three additional JKTDC hotels were also being hired to accommodate senior officials so that the employees face no problems.
He said that repair work and face-lifting of Estates flats at Jawahar Nagar, Tulsi Bagh, Budshah Bridge, Sanatnagar and other areas of the city to house employees has been completed.
The Deputy Director Estates, Farooq Ahmad said that employees are being accommodated in the hotels after the security clearance by the Police Department.
