Committee constituted to ensure uninterrupted medical oxygen supply

JAMMU, Oct 20: Government today accorded sanction to the constitution of a committee for ensuring availability of adequate and uninterrupted oxygen supply in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the order, the committee comprised of Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department as chairman, Managing Director, J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) as member (secretary) and Principal Secretary Revenue Department, Commissioner/ Secretary Industries and Commerce Department, Commissioner/Secretary Transport Department, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mission Director NHM J&K, Director Health Services Jammu, Director Health Services Kashmir, Director SKIMS Soura, Principal GMC Jammu and Principal GMC Srinagar as members.
“The committee shall continuously monitor the availability of medical oxygen in the UT of J&K and report any shortfalls/related problems immediately to Central Control Room established in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India,” the order reads.
It further stated that the committee shall ensure that no restrictions are imposed on the movement of medical oxygen into the union territory and free inter-state movement of oxygen carrying vehicles is permitted. It further said that the committee shall ensure that no restrictions are imposed on oxygen manufacturers and suppliers to limit the oxygen supplies only to the hospitals of the UT.
The order further said that the committee shall ensure free movement of oxygen carrying vehicles into the cities, irrespective of timings, along with inter-city supply without restriction.
