CB books retd clerk for impersonation, forgery

JAMMU, Sept 22: Crime Branch Jammu registered a criminal case against a retired Senior Assistant from Horticulture Department for impersonation and forgery.
“A written complaint was lodged by Farzana Mumtaz daughter of Ghulam Mohd Bhat, resident of Mujahid Manzil Zaina Kadal Srinagar and others alleging that in the month of June 2018, a man identified as Farooq Ahmed son of late Ghulam Mohd Lone, resident of Lal Mandi Wazir Bagh (Srinagar) visited the office of complainant with the proposal that he shall get appointment of her relatives in reputed companies abroad and at National level as he has good liaison and close relations with all top officials of the state,” a spokesman of Crime Branch (CB) said.
He said that the accused introduced himself as Joint Director Horticulture Srinagar, Kashmir. On his assurance, the complainant paid Rs 20 lakh for appointments. The accused has also cheated a man namely Mohd Nasir son of Mohd Asgar Chandail of Udhampur in the year 2014 by duping Rs 6 lakh for providing job in the Police Department as Sub-Inspector. Besides this, the accused also induced and cheated a man namely Prithvi Singh son of late Badri Nath, resident of Seri (Ramban) of Rs 5.5 lakh on the pretext of providing Government jobs to unemployed youth of Ramban.
Taking cognizance of the matter, a preliminary verification was conducted by Crime Branch Jammu and it found that accused had impersonated himself as Director, Horticulture Kashmir and cheated the complainants on the pretext of providing jobs in reputed companies abroad and at National level. Accordingly, a formal case has been registered in police station Crime Branch, Jammu against the accused and others for in-depth investigation.
