RAJOURI, Sept 13: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri, in collaboration with Attitude Change International, Darhal Malkan, Rajouri, organized two- day international e-conference on National Education Policy (2020) and Peace Education on 12th – 13th September, 2020.
Prof Javed Musarrat, Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, who was chief guest in the valedictory function, delivered presidential address. He appraised and appreciated the National Education Policy -2020 and emphasized the implementation of content of peace brilliantly imbedded in it. Prof Musarrat hailed the New Education Policy for aiming at creating vibrant multi-disciplinary institutions of high quality that will make education effective and accessible. He said the New Education Policy will result in complete re- structuring, re-organising, revamping and rejuvenating of the existing education system.
About 15 eminent educationists, leading practitioners and peace building experts representing five continents were resource persons in this two-day virtual conference spread over 6 sessions. Prof Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic Affairs, BGSBU, delivered the welcome address.
Prof S K Yadav, noted Teacher education expert and former Head, Department of Teacher Education, NCERT, New Delhi, was the key note speaker whereas Prof Katsuya Kodama, former Vice President, Mie University, Japan, former Secretary General of International Peace Research Association (IPRA), former Vice President, and ISSC (UNESCO) delivered a lead lecture on “Peace Education in highly violent age”.
Prof Diana María De La Rúa Eugenio, President of the Association Answer for Peace, Argentina and former Secretary General -IPRA presented her talk on “Peace Education Central Axis to transform our World”. Prof Christian Bartolf, President Gandhi Information Centre, Berlin, Germany spoke on Peace Education and Remembering Mahatma Gandhi whereas Dr Mohammad Tarikul Islam, Associate Professor, Government and Politics Department, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh and Visiting Scholar Oxford University, delivered talk on Peace Education-Bangladesh experience.
Dr M Ashaq Raza (President of ACI) delivered the welcome address in the valedictory session. Dr Danish Iqbal Raina presented the conference report. Those who attended the conference included Prof G Malik, Dean Education BGSBU, Dr A A Shah, Head Department of Zoology BGSBU.
Leena Pal from Amity University, Noida conducted proceeding of programme whereas Prof Riaz Ahmed Mirza of Govt PG College Rajouri and Dr Sunil Pandey of Amity University were technical advisors.
