JAMMU, Sept 8: Gujjar Bakerwal Conference J&K State urged Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to fulfil their long pending demands including inclusion of Gojri language in the 8th schedule.
Vice president of the Conference, Haji Saif Ali said that despite 30 lakhs population of Gujjar Bakerwal community, the 2/3rd population of the community were still nomadic but the successive Governments never heed to matter for their upliftment so far.
“They are still roaming here and there for their livelihood by spending six months at upper hills during summer and six months at plain during winter season,” he added.
He demanded that the Gojri language should implement in the curriculum of School Education Department to felicitate the children of these communities and also demanded ST funds should also be distributed among the communities for their welfare.
