UDHAMPUR, Sept 1: The police seized a truck along with 23 bovine animals and arrested a smuggler.
Official sources said that during naka checking, police party from Police Post, Tikri on Jammu- Udhampur-Srinagar highway, signalled a truck bearing registration number HR 55X- 8549 to stop for checking, but the driver sped up and fled the Naka. The vehicle was chased by the police party and intercepted
At some distance ahead.
During checking 23 bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle without any valid permission. All the 23 bovine animals were rescued and smuggler namely Mohd Arshad , son of Mohd Liaqat, resident of Saharanpur, UP was arrested.
In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Rehambal and further investigation was in progress.
